Playing rules

  1. Four players use 108 suited tiles without honors. The dealer starts with 14 tiles and others with 13. Pung, kong and hu are allowed; chi is not. The host deals first, then the winner deals. Multiple winners make the discarder the next dealer; a drawn hand keeps the dealer.
  2. Use the highest pattern: plain 1, all triplets 5, seven pairs 7, dragon pairs 10, pure suit 10, pure triplets 15, pure seven pairs 17, pure dragon pairs 20. Plain discard wins need a kong (bean); self-draws, higher patterns, hot discards and robbed kongs do not. Self-draw adds 1; a kong draw or hot discard adds 1. Discarders pay discard wins; each opponent pays a self-draw.
  3. Kongs are beans: a concealed kong earns 2 from each opponent, an added kong earns 3 from each, and an exposed kong earns 1 from its discarder. Beans settle at hand end and are collectible only by a winner or a player in tenpai.
  4. One bamboo is the fixed chicken. After a win, reveal the next wall tile: the next rank in its suit is the flipped chicken, wrapping nine to one. Retained or melded chickens score 1 each. Discarded fixed chickens count, but discarded flipped chickens do not (no full-house option). Nine bamboo makes fixed chickens golden and doubles their value. An empty wall gives no indicator. Chicken, bean and win points add together.
  5. The first discarded fixed chicken scores 3 total. If punged or konged, it becomes a liability chicken: its discarder pays the claimant 2 extra. A winning discard belongs only to the first winner for chicken scoring; if it was the charging chicken, no charging or liability bonus applies. Golden chickens double these values. Winners and tenpai players collect chicken points from each opponent. Unready players collect no chicken or bean points and pay their visible fixed-chicken value to each tenpai player.
  6. Only an added kong can be robbed. The robbed player pays all three self-draw shares; the unfinished added kong earns no beans. A winning discard immediately after a kong is hot: its discarder forfeits collectible chickens and beans and pays the other eligible players’ chicken/bean receipts. Liability still applies. Multiple winners are allowed; hu takes priority over meld claims.
  7. After declining hu, discard wins are blocked until your next draw. Passing a pung blocks punging that tile until your next draw. On wall exhaustion without a win, each unready player pays each tenpai player their highest possible pattern score. Eligible beans settle; chickens do not.
  8. This table uses the fixed values above, without eight-dot chickens, full-house chickens, declared-tenpai locking or dealer bonuses. Points track play only, with no real money or wallet chips. Timeouts make legal automatic moves; leaving hands continue under auto play and disconnected players can reconnect.
